Enterprise Service Management (ESM)

Provide common tools and processes that extend our IT Service Management for use in non-IT contexts so that the university office has measurable, efficient transactions and visibility into the full lifecycle of the services they provide.

Integration and Automation

Miami University provides Workflow Tools to help departments and teams automate, track, and manage business processes that require approvals, task coordination, or data collection. These tools reduce reliance on paper forms and manual tracking, streamline communication, and improve efficiency across a wide range of university functions.

Student Information System (SIS)

The Student Information System (SIS) provides the foundational technology platform that supports student records, academic progress, course registration, and other key student lifecycle processes. The SIS is the system of record for all academic and enrollment data for undergraduate and graduate students at Miami University.

Miami is actively transitioning from our old SIS, primarily Banner, to Workday Student. This service centers on the future target in Workday Student, Miami’s modern cloud-based student information platform, and includes other integrated systems and tools that enable academic planning, advising, registration, grading, and degree progress tracking.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

Miami University utilizes an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to integrate and manage core institutional processes, including human resources, finance, payroll, procurement, and student information. In 2024, the university transitioned from its legacy Banner system to Workday, a modern, cloud-based ERP platform. This transition aims to enhance operational efficiency, data accuracy, and user experience for faculty, staff, and students.

Institutional Document Repository and Digital Archive

Enables Miami University departments to securely scan, store, and retrieve official university documents in digital form. Built on the Banner Document Management System (BDM), it supports access to institutional records that must be preserved for operational, legal, or historical reasons. While many records are now managed in systems like Workday or Slate, BDM remains essential for accessing and managing legacy content.

Reporting Tools

Miami University offers Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) and Tableau for reporting. IT Services provides support for the use of OAS, while assisting with Tableau licensing.

Data Analytics

Allows departments and divisions to make data-informed, proactive decisions using institutional data through OAS or independently through Tableau.
