Barrier - An obstacle that prevents a qualified individual with a disability from accessing a Miami service, program, or activity. Barriers can be physical (e.g., something that prevents access to a building or classroom) or technological (e.g., the inability to access specific web based curricular material)
Grievance - A formal complaint that may be filed by a qualified student or applicant with a disability after invoking Miami’s processes for barrier removal and finding the proposed or implemented remedy to be ineffective, incomplete, untimely, or otherwise unsatisfactory.
