Unable to connect to wireless after Spring Break 2019

Issue/Question

  • I cannot connect to MU-Wireless or eduroam after coming back from Spring Break

Environment

  • 10139: Wireless Network
    • MU-Wireless
    • eduroam
  • macOS
  • Windows
  • iOS
  • Android

Cause/Rationale

  • IT Services recently updated the SSL certificate used to encrypt the traffic on the wireless networks — your device is still trying to use the old certificate

Resolution 

  1. Forget the wireless network
    • MacOS 
      • NOTE: You may need to uninstall the MU-Wireless profile if you have it installed. In your Apple menu, go to System Preferences and select Profiles. Remove anything that references MU-Wireless by selecting it and clicking the minus (  ) button
    • Windows
    • iOS
    • Android: Varies by flavor and device type. Go into your Settings, and then Network or Connections
  2. Re-join the network
    • MacOS 
      1. Select the Wi-Fi (  ) symbol at the top-right side of the screen and select the network
      2. Follow the prompts to connect
    • Windows
    • iOS
    • Android

 

Notes

  • The KB articles linked (above) specify MU-Wireless, but eduroam is configured the same way and these steps can be used to connect to eduroam
  • Depending on the device and software running, the certificate used may or may not be trusted: As long as the certificate is the radius.miamioh.edu cert with the DigiCert chain, you can tell the device to trust the cert
