  • All faculty, staff, and students are assigned a Miami UniqueID and an MUnet password, the credentials used to sign in to the majority of Miami systems, including email, myMiami, and BannerWeb

Find your UniqueID

Use the UniqueID formula

  • Your Miami UniqueID is generated using data from Human Resources or Registrar files. It generally consists of the first six characters of your last name, your first initial, and your middle initial.
    • example: The UniqueID for John Q. Public would be PublicJQ
  • In some cases, your UniqueID will not follow the formula, if the same formula was already used to create a UniqueID for someone with a similar name. In that case, use one of the following methods to determine your UniqueID

Use the UniqueID Lookup tool

  1. Follow this link to our UniqueID Lookup Tool
  2. Use your Banner+ ID or Social Security number to search for your UniqueID
  3. If the UniqueID Lookup Tool doesn't accept your information, enter your default password using the last four digits of your Banner+ ID
    • If you did not provide the University with a Social Security number, your default password is your two-digit month of birth, two-digit day of birth, and the last four digits of your Banner+ ID number (MMDDBBBB)
      • example: Your birth day is April 1, and your Banner+ ID is +00123456, so your default password would be 04013456
  4. If you still need assistance, contact One Stop at 513 529-0001
  5. Provide the following information:
    • Your name
    • Your Banner+ ID

Locate your entry in the directory

  • If you have requested to be hidden in the directory, this option will not work for you
  • Incoming students are not listed in the directory until August 1
  1. Follow this link to the Miami directory
  2. In the Name field, enter your name as given to the Registrar, Academic Personnel Services, or Department of Human Resources
  3. Select your name from the directory results
  4. Click the + icon next to your name to reveal your UniqueID line

Find your MUnet password

  • Your default MUnet password is derived from your birth date and Social Security or Banner+ number, as follows:
    • Your two-digit birth month and your two-digit birth day, followed by the last four digits of your Social Security number
      • example: A birth date of March 1 and a Social Security number ending in 6789 results in a default MUnet password of 03016789
    • Your two-digit birth month and your two-digit birth day, followed by the last four digits of your Banner+ number
  • If your password is at the default value, you will be required to change it after logging in to a Miami web-based service
  • If you have forgotten your password, follow this link to validate your user information and reset your password
