Create a nickname for a course / Canvas

Problem

  • How do I change the name of my Canvas course?
  • How do I create a nickname for my Canvas course? 

Resolution

  • If the course is a student-enrolled course that is set up through Banner, you cannot change the Canvas course name
  • Refer to the Canvas Guide for how to create a nickname for your course
    • Be sure to scroll down the page to Create Nickname if the link does not jump to the appropriate section
    • Note that creating a course nickname affects the name only for the individual user who added it. It will not affect the course name for other users
  • To request a change to the name of a personal, program, or department project site, follow the instructions in the KB article to change the name of a project site
