Announcements not displaying in a course / Canvas

Problem

  • Why are course announcements not displaying in Canvas?

Resolution

  • By default, announcements are posted as soon as they are published and remain displayed for students for the duration of the course. However, announcements also allow you to select dates for when the announcement begins displaying (available from) and when it stops displaying (available until). These dates convey when an announcement is copied from another course. Check any display dates to ensure they match what you'd like or remove them:

    • Note: You can also use display dates to trigger notifications for announcements created before a course is published. Just create or edit the "available from" date to one in the future (when the course is published/classes begin)
  • If you are teaching a cross-listed course, ensure all of the necessary sections are selected in the Post To drop-down menu
  • Teaching assistants can also edit or delete course announcements. Instruct TAs or co-teachers not to remove or edit content unless requested
