Create a discussion (instructor) / Canvas

Problem

Discussions in Canvas can be graded or ungraded (ungraded discussions will not show in the Gradebook). Review the Canvas Guides for instructions:

  - Discussion Checkpoints are now available for graded discussions. Checkpoints let you set the number of required replies for a discussion and assign different due dates and/or points for the initial post and replies. Once the graded checkpoints option is enabled in the discussion settings, you can manage the different due dates and points in the Checkpoint settings
By default, students can attach files to discussions, though this option can be adjusted in the discussion settings. Check the Canvas Guides for more information:

You can view all discussions in a course, pin specific discussions to appear at the top of the discussions list, and manage global Discussions settings, like enabling or disabling threaded replies, on the Discussions Index Page:
