Problem
How do I reply to a discussion in Canvas?
Can I edit or delete my discussion replies?
How do I attach files to a Canvas discussion post?
How do I create a discussion in Canvas?
Resolution
Discussions may be accessed from the Discussions, Assignments, Modules, and/or Grades pages based on the links enabled in your course. Note that you may be required to post an initial reply to a post before viewing or responding to your classmates' posts, and your instructor may have provided a rubric to outline discussion expectations. Review the Canvas Guides for more information:
How do I reply to a discussion as a student?
Best practice recommends confirming your discussion reply has been posted by locating it in the discussion thread after submission. Lengthier submissions may time out before posting
If you are unable to reply to your classmates' posts, contact your instructor to request that they
enable threaded replies in the discussion settings
How do I view a discussion thread as a student?
How do I view the rubric for my graded discussion?
By default, you cannot edit or delete discussion replies. If your instructor has enabled the option, you can check the Canvas Guide for instructions:
How do I edit or delete discussion replies as a student?
Note that course instructors can see edit history on discussion replies, and if you deleted replies
If your instructor has enabled the setting, you may be able to attach files to a discussion reply:
How do I attach a file to a discussion reply as a student?
If your file exceeds the upload limit, your file may fail to attach or affect the posting of the reply. For larger files, consider
uploading them to your Miami Google Drive
and sharing the link in your reply
Your instructor may allow or require you to create a discussion in your course or student group. For more information, refer to the Canvas Guides:
