Rationale

  • All network interfaces have a unique media access control identifier (MAC address) used for communication purposes on a network. You might be asked to locate and provide the MAC address of a computer or other device when you, for example, register a gaming device
  • Your device may have more than one MAC address, if you have both wired and wireless interfaces
  • The format for a MAC address (also called a physical address or Ethernet hardware address) is 12 alphanumeric characters, usually separated by colons: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX or 0a:1b:2c:3d:4e:5f

On a Nintendo Wii U gaming console

  1. From the Wii U menu, select System Settings
  2. Using the left stick, select the Internet icon and press the A button
  3. Select View MAC Address 
    • Your MAC address will be displayed

On a Nintendo Switch gaming console

  1. From the Switch home menu, select System Settings
  2. Scroll down through the System Settings menu and select Internet icon 
  3. Locate Internet Settings in the right panel 
    • Your MAC address will be displayed under System MAC Address

On a Nintendo 3DS gaming console

  1. From the home menu, highlight and select System Settings 
  2. Select Internet Settings
  3. Select Other Information
  4. Select Confirm MAC Address
    •  Your MAC address will be displayed

On a Nintendo Wii gaming console

  1. Start your Wii without a disc in the drive
  2. Press the A button on the Wii Remote to reach the Wii main menu
  3. Use the Wii Remote to select the Wii button
  4. Click the Wii Settings button to access the Wii System Settings menu
  5. Click the arrow on the right side of the screen to scroll to Wii System Settings 2
  6. Click the Internet button
  7. Click the Console Information button 
    • Your MAC address will be displayed at the top of the screen

Sony

On a Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) gaming console

  1. Start your PlayStation without a disc in the drive
  2. From the home menu, locate the System Settings icon and click the X
  3. Select System Information and click the X
    • Your MAC address will be displayed

On a Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) gaming console

  1. Start your PS3 without a disc in the drive
  2. From the XMB home menu, scroll to Settings
  3. Locate the System Settings icon and click the X
  4. Select System Information and click the X
    • Your MAC address will be displayed

  3. Select Network
  4. Select Advanced Settings
    • Your MAC addresses for wired and wireless will be displayed
