Note: Information Technology Services policy requests that departmental Google Group names begin with the department's 3-letter abbreviation. IT Services reserves final decision on Group titles and names (primarily to conform with established naming conventions) but every effort is made to accommodate all reasonable requests.
Please Note: Miami Classes may have a Google Group already created for their use. Before creating a new Group check to see if a Group already exists. If not, use the following naming convention to create a new Group.
Miami’s class naming convention is:
"cr-ABC123.x"
-
ABC being the course code
-
123 being the course number
-
x being the section.
Non-class Group naming convention is:
Names are recommended to include the department abbreviation when appropriate (e.g. PFD-XXXXXXX)
Names should be sufficiently specific to clearly identify the group
Names must not be offensive or disconcerting
Names should not be tied to individual people
You can check to see if the Group exists by opening your Google Groups App and searching for your course using the naming convention.
