Jacks / Assistance needed with a network jack

Objective

  • To obtain assistance with a network jack when:
    • You have problems with packet loss on a device
    • You need to check the data jack logs for incidents
    • You need to test the function of a data or network jack
    • A credit card machine cannot connect to the Internet to complete transactions

Environment

  • 10679: Communications Jacks and Cabling 
    • Data Jack
  • Miami Network
  • Wired Network

Resolution

  1. Try rebooting the device
  2. Follow these KB instructions to run a connection speed test 
  3. Make a screen-capture of the results
  4. If the issue persists, contact IT Help at 513-529-7900 to request assistance
  5. Provide the following information:
    • Detailed description of the issue you're experiencing
    • Location of the jack, including building name and room number
    • Network jack ID
    • MAC address(es) of the affected device(s)
    • Screen-capture of the speed test results you received for the affected device(s)
