MUprint / Guide: Web Print PDF file creation

Objective

  • To provide guidance on creating PDF files on a variety of computing platforms for the use of sending to MUprint for printing capabilities via Web Print

Rationale

  • Required file format for MUprint (PaperCut) to accept print jobs
    • Web Print requires uploaded files to be in PDF format to be printed

Guidelines

macOS Print to PDF

  • Most macOS applications that allow printing use a standard print function; some include their own export to PDF function
  1. Click File in the menu bar
  2. Click Print
  3. Click PDF in the lower left and select Save as PDF

 


Windows 10 Print to PDF

  • Most Windows applications that allow printing use a standard print function; some include their own export to PDF function
  1. Click File within the program
  2. Click Print
  3. In the Printer drop-down or Select Printer dialog box, select Microsoft Print to PDF
  4. Click the Print button and save the PDF

 


Microsoft Office on Windows 10

  • There are two options to create a PDF of your document: either through the either through the Print dialog or the Export option

 

Print dialog

  1. Click the File tab
  2. Click Print
  3. In the Printer drop-down, select Microsoft Print to PDF
  4. Click the Print button and save the PDF

 

Export

  1. Click the File tab
  2. Click Export
  3. Click Create PDF/XPS
  4. Ensure that you are saving as type PDF (*.pdf), and click Publish

 


Microsoft Office on macOS

  • There are two options to create a PDF of your document: either through the Print dialog or the Save As dialog option

 

Print dialog

  1. Click File in the menu bar
  2. Click Print
  3. Click PDF in the lower left, and select Save as a PDF

 

Save As dialog

  1. Click File in the menu bar
  2. Click Save As
  3. From the File Format drop-down, select the PDF Export Format
    • The PDF file will be saved in the same location as the Office file

 


Google Docs, Sheets, Slides from a web browser

  1. Click File
  2. Click Download, then choose PDF Document (.pdf)
