Troubleshoot file access or visibility issues (Student)/ Canvas

Problem

  • Why am I unable to view or access a document or image file in my Canvas course?
  • How do I view a file that shows a 'locked or Access Denied message?

Resolution

  • If the image or document file was recently uploaded to the course, it may take a few moments to process. If the file is still not displaying for you, try clearing your browser cache and cookies
  • Some browsers may have compatibility issues when displaying images or files in Canvas. Try configuring your browser to accept third-party cookies
  • If the document or image file gives a "locked" or "Access Denied" message, contact your course instructor. They may need to adjust the file availability or visibility to ensure it is published or re-link the file in the course
