Canvas course sites are created automatically for ALL courses listed in Banner once the course schedule is published in Banner. In addition to online, hybrid, and on-campus courses, however, Canvas may be used for other purposes that are related to the mission of Miami University.
Faculty and staff may use this form to request the creation of a Canvas course site that would be used for other purposes such as:
- Developing a course that is not yet listed in Banner (master course to store content until the course becomes available in Banner)
- Sharing information and communication with students in an academic program (non-graded activities)
- Employee training
- Faculty/staff group or committee collaboration
In this form, you will be asked to provide information about the purpose and expected use of Canvas so that a new Canvas course site will be created correctly and your request can be fulfilled quickly.
Upon completion of the form, your request will be routed to the appropriate staff for response and action. Canvas site requests are typically fulfilled in 1–2 business days and you will receive email notification as actions are completed.
