Duo / Guide: Authenticate when traveling in China

Note: Effective Tuesday, July 14, 2020, the Duo Call Me and landline options are no longer available

Objective

  • To provide information on using Duo two-factor authentication when away traveling in China
  • To provide information on the authentication methods you can use when traveling or studying in China

Scope

User

  • All current Miami University Students, Faculty, and Staff
    • Miami's alumni, retiree, emeriti, and former student populations are not required to enroll in Duo

Environment

  • 312306: Duo Security Two-factor Authentication
  • Duo Mobile App

Rationale

  • Two-factor authentication adds a second layer of security to your Miami account. It allows you to verify your identity using a second factor — your smartphone or other mobile device, YubiKey U2F device — and prevents anyone else from logging in to your account
  • Duo works with Android and iOS devices through the Duo Mobile app to support authentication via Duo Push (recommended) and Duo Passcode
