Canvas / Operational Status (slow and will not load)

Objective

• To provide a link to the Canvas Status page, which you can check for real-time operational performance when:
  • Canvas will not load
  • SpeedGrader is stuck on a loading screen
  • You cannot access Canvas
  • You can access Canvas from my phone but not the computer
  • You try to upload Commons on Canvas, but it is running very slow
  • You want to know if Canvas is down
  • You want to find info about a recent Canvas outage

Rationale

• Canvas Status website provides real-time operational status and historical data on Canvas system performance. Miami students, faculty, and staff can also subscribe for notification of live updates on operational and performance issues, partial and major outages, and network maintenance 

Resolution

• Visit the Canvas Status page to learn if an outage has occurred 
• If no outage has occurred, know that some issues can be resolved simply by clearing your web browser's cache, cookies, temporary files, and history
  • Follow these KB instructions on basic browser troubleshooting 
• Try another browser to see if you get the same results (Chrome often updates and things stop working. Using a different browser will help narrow the possible issues.)

• Miami Online offers Canvas training
  • Office hours and support will be offered throughout each term. Look for an announcement in Canvas and an email to all faculty.
