Resolve license errors / SPSS Statistics

Problem

• How do I add the license configuration to a new installation of SPSS Statistics?   

Scope

• You have received an error message regarding the license status of your newly installed SPSS Statistics software. Your installation of SPSS was interrupted — normally, license settings would have been automatically configured by the installer

Resolution 

1. If you are off-campus and get a message that SPSS Statistics is not licensed, follow these KB instructions to access SPSS from off-campus
   • If SPSS will not work after following the instructions at the above link, continue to step 2
2. Run IBM SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard from the Start Menu on Windows or Applications on macOS
3. On the resulting License Status screen, click Next
4. On the Product Authorization screen, select Concurrent user license and then click Next
5. In the License Manager name or Server IP Address, enter spsslic.miamioh.edu and then click Next
6. Click Finish

Notes

• Verify your license from within SPSS: 
  1. Click File/New/Script
  2. Enter show license
  3. Run the script
• If necessary, follow these KB instructions to request a temporary license for offline use
