Body

Problem

  • How do I connect my iOS device to Miami's wireless network?
  • How do I install the MiamiOH-Secure configuration tool on my iOS device when my device is repeatedly disconnected from MiamiOH-Secure?
  • How do I troubleshoot the network settings on your iOS device when I cannot connect to MiamiOH-Secure on my iPhone or iPad?

Resolution

Connect an iOS device

  1. On the home screen, tap Settings
  2. Tap Wi-Fi
  3. Ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled by moving the slider to On
    • After Wi-Fi is enabled, a list of available networks will appear within a few seconds
  4. Tap MiamiOH-Secure to open authentication screen
    • Note: Some versions of iPhone and iOS may not default to trust the certificate used. If prompted to trust the radius.miamioh.edu certificate, select the Trust option
  5. Enter your UniqueID and MUnet password
  6. Tap Join
  7. When the certificate screen appears, tap Trust
    • When you are successfully connected, a check mark will appear next to MU-Wireless

Troubleshoot your iOS device settings

  • Have you tried forgetting MiamiOH multiple times, but are still unable to connect? Some versions of iPhone and iOS may not default to trust the certificate used. Follow these instructions to reset the network settings on your iOS device, and be sure to "trust" Miami's security certificate
  1. Tap the Settings app on your home screen
  2. Next tap General
  3. Tap Reset
  4. Tap Reset Network Settings
    • Note: This will cause your device to forget all wireless networks
  5. Restart your device
  6. Tap the Settings app on your home screen
  7. Tap Wi-Fi and then MiamiOH-Secure
  8. If a certificate verification appears, tap Trust
  9. Enter your UniqueID and your MUNet password
  10. Tap Join

Notes

  • To ensure that your device stays connected to MiamiOH-Secure while on campus, forget/delete MU-Gaming, MaimiOH-Visitor and MU-Guest from your remembered networks
  • You must re-enter your credentials any time you change your MUnet password
