Connect to network file storage in Windows / File Storage

Problem

  • I want to connect to network file storage from a Windows computer
  • I want to access network file storage on MyFiles or MUFiles

Resolution

  1. Open Windows File Explorer
  2. Right-click on This PC located in the left-hand navigation area and choose Map network drive
  3. From the Drive drop-down, select an available drive letter
  4. In the Folder text box, enter \\it.muohio.edu\files 
  5. Click Finish
  6. When prompted to log in, enter your Miami UniqueID and MUnet password
    • Enter it\ preceding your UniqueID (e.g., it\publicjq)
      • When entering your UniqueID you must specify the Active Directory domain, IT\
    • If the account you use to log in to your computer is not the same as your Miami UniqueID and password, check Connect using different credentials
  7. Click Finish

Notes

  • Network file storage is available to faculty, staff, and students on myFiles 
  • Faculty and staff may also have departmental network file storage on MUFiles
