Error Message

Unable to add card to wallet, or Apple error "Could not add card"
Affected User / Action Apple users; user unable to add Miami ID to their digital wallet
Cause Card may be active on an old device; or another AppleID is being used on the phone
Resolution: Remove Digital ID from Apple device

If you receive a message on your phone that says Could not add card it likely means someone else's iCloud account is active on your phone and a different user has already issued a credential using the same iCloud account. It could also mean that your Digital ID is loaded to a different (old) phone or Apple watch. You'll need to revoke that card or create/login with a different iCloud account.

If someone else's Apple ID is active on your phone, you should create a new one for yourself. After you do that, you'll be able to add your Miami DigitalID to your personal AppleID.

If you already are using your correct personal Apple ID, then you may need to remove/revoke the incorrect card from the wallet by following these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay
  2. Look under Other Cards to confirm the Miami Digital ID has been removed. If you do see Miami ID in this section, tap on it, and then scroll down and tap Remove
  3. Go back to the main Settings to make sure your Miami Digital ID is not associated with any other device
  4. Click on your name at the top of the menu to access your Apple ID settings page
  5. Scroll down to the list of devices and select any OLD iPhones or Apple Watches to see if Miami Digital ID is still listed on those device(s)
  6. If it is, then scroll down and select Remove all cards
  7. Once the cards are removed (may take a few moments), close and reopen the GET Mobile app. You should now be able to add the Miami Digital ID to your device. Once the incorrect card/credential is removed, close and reopen the GET Mobile App, and then you'll be able to add your Miami Digital ID to your device
  8. If you continue to experience this issue, contact Campus Services at 513-529-5000 for assistance during business hours
