Microsoft 365 / Reinstall after an OS reinstall or repair

Objective

  • To provide instruction on reinstalling Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) for Students after a system restore or new hard drive installation

Rationale

  • Microsoft 365 can be reinstalled after a hard drive swap or OS reinstall, but you may need to deactivate your license from the previous installation in Microsoft's portal

Resolution

  1. Follow these KB instructions to download Office to your Mac or PC
  2. If you receive a license error when activating Microsoft Office, follow these Office Support instructions on deactivating the install on your old device
