  • To provide instruction on transferring files securely via SecureFileShare

Environment

Rationale

  • Your departmental share is more secure than Google Drive
  • For securely transferring files, Miami University IT Services recommends using SecureFileShare

Resolution

Share files with Miami faculty, staff or students

  1. Log in to Miami's SecureFileShare portal
    • Use your UniqueID and MUnet password
  2. Click the Drop-off button
  3. Add a recipient or multiple recipients
  4. Upload or locate the file you want to share
  5. Select the appropriate options using the checkboxes
    1. These options should be selected for each transfer:
      1. Calculate SHA-256 checksum of each file
      2. Send email message to recipients, which includes Passcode as well as Claim ID
    2. These options are optional:
      1. Encrypt every file: Enabling this option will require you to share the pass phrase with the recipient using a method other than email
      2. Send me an email when each recipient picks up the files
      3. Allow only one download
  6. Click the Drop-off Files button

  • Miami faculty, staff, and students can use SecureFileShare to conveniently and securely share files with other people both on and off campus
