Browser / Missing buttons or text

Objective

  • To provide instruction for zooming or for apparent missing functionality in a browser
  • To provide a link to the up-to-date support site for the most popular browsers

Environment

  • Chrome
  • Safari

    • macOS Monterey 12, Ventura 13
    • Windows 

Rationale

  • Some sites on which you normally would expect to see certain buttons or text might not display these elements as intended or in the typical location 
    • Most of the time, you can scroll up or down to find where the button or text is located

Resolution 

  • In most cases, scroll down from where you would expect buttons or text to be located to where they now might be shown
  • In other cases, reduce the front/zoom from within the browser for full functionality 
    • You should also refresh the browser after zooming

 

On most Window computers 

  • Change the zoom level within a browser
    • Press both buttons at the same time, pressing and holding the CTRL/Control key while single-pressing the second button until you reach the desired zoom level
      • To increase the zoom level, press CTRL+ (plus sign)
      • To decrease the zoom level, press CTRL- (minus sign)
    • Or on some devices, you can hold down the CTRL key and use the scrolling wheel on the mouse to adjust the zoom function to the desired level

 

On most Apple computers

  • Change the zoom level within a browser
    • Press both buttons at the same time, pressing and holding the Command key held while single-pressing the second button until you reach the desired zoom level
      • To increase the zoom level, press Command+ (plus sign)
      • To decrease the zoom level, press Command- (minus sign)
