Guide
Linux servers in the Hoyt data center and in AWS are set to automatically patch and reboot once per month. Servers are scheduled on the basis of two criteria:
- The week is dependent on environment:
- Week beginning with first Monday of the month: Cluster T / Sandbox and Development environment servers
- Week beginning with second Monday of the month: Test environment servers
- Week beginning with fourth Monday of the month: Production environment servers
- The day is dependent on presence of load balancing:
- First server in a load balanced group — or only server if not load balanced — is scheduled for Monday.
- Second server in a load balanced group is scheduled for Tuesday
- Third for Wednesday, and so on. If there are more than 5 servers in a load balanced group, the 6th server will also be scheduled for Monday, 7th for Tuesday, etc.
- Default scheduling time is 5:00AM, but this can be set for services that need a different time
- If a Production server is scheduled to be patched during High Review, that scheduled time will be skipped and patching will schedule as normal the following month
