Support Guide: CASiT / Geography Department network attached storage

Objective

• To provide information for CASiT institutional KB

Rationale 

• Address the ongoing need to record institutional knowledge to be shared across the members of CASiT.

Resolution

• Geography provides supplemental data storage for GEO students and faculty in addition to IT Services Windows server space
• Two servers located in Hoyt Data Center: GEONAS01.it.muohio.edu, GEONAS02.it.muohio.edu
• SuperMicro bare-bone servers (delivery date: 12/1/2015)  Intel Xenon, 36TB storage, 32GB RAM
• GEONAS01 installed with Rockstor (will update to TrueNAS 6/1/26), GEONAS02 installed with TrueNAS
• Servers joined to AD
• Servers using RAID 10, 1 disk pool, SMB for share access
• GEONAS01 is used for data storage, GEONAS02 is backup/replication
• Current credentials for management via web interface: GEONAS
