Canvas / Kaltura recorded media from (My Media)

Objective

  • To provide instructions on resolving a video processing issue
    • When the video doesn't upload
    • When the video is stuck in processing

User

  • Canvas Instructor
  • Canvas Student

Environment

  • 10185: Canvas
    • Kaltura My Media

Resolution

  • Once you have recorded the media using Kaltura Personal Capture you may need to upload the video if you run into problems. Another reason to know where your recordings are located is if you need to clean up your files on your computer (remove old recordings, memory considerations). The videos recorded using Personal Capture reside on your computer.

On a Mac

  • The content item is located using this path Macintosh HD > Users > [your account] > Library > Preferences > Kaltura > Capture > Recordings
  • Note: your Library folder may be hidden. To locate it, open a Finder window and choose Go in the menu bar. Then choose Go to Folder (or use the Cmd+Shift+G key shortcut). Type ~/Library and click Go. The library folder will be revealed and you will now be able to follow the path laid out above to find your media

On a PC - Windows

  1. Right click on the Kaltura Capture icon on the desktop
  2. Right click on the icon and select Properties
  3. Open file location and go up one folder to the Capture folder
    • Or simply go to: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Kaltura\Capture\
