- To provide guidance on creating PDF files on a variety of computing platforms for the use of sending to MUprint for printing capabilities via Email to Print

Rationale
- Required file format for MUprint (PaperCut) to accept print jobs
- Email to Print requires files to be emailed in PDF format to be printed
Guidelines
macOS Print to PDF
- Most macOS applications that allow printing use a standard print function; some include their own export to PDF function
- Click File in the menu bar
- Click Print
- Click PDF in the lower left and select Save as PDF
- Attach PDF to email
Windows 10 Print to PDF
- Most Windows applications that allow printing use a standard print function; some include their own export to PDF function
- Click File within the program
- Click Print
- In the Printer drop-down or Select Printer dialog box, select Microsoft Print to PDF
- Click the Print button and save the PDF
- Attach PDF to email
Microsoft Office on Windows 10
- There are two options to create a PDF of your document: either through the either through the Print dialog or the Export option
Print dialog
- Click the File tab
- Click Print
- In the Printer drop-down, select Microsoft Print to PDF
- Click the Print button and save the PDF
- Attach PDF to email
Export
- Click the File tab
- Click Export
- Click Create PDF/XPS
- Ensure that you are saving as type PDF (*.pdf), and click Publish
- Attach PDF to email
Microsoft Office on macOS
- There are two options to create a PDF of your document: either through the Print dialog or the Save As dialog option
Print dialog
- Click File in the menu bar
- Click Print
- Click PDF in the lower left, and select Save as a PDF
- Attach PDF to email
Save As dialog
- Click File in the menu bar
- Click Save As
- From the File Format drop-down, select the PDF Export Format
- The PDF file will be saved in the same location as the Office file
- Attach PDF to email
Google Docs, Sheets, Slides from a web browser
- Click File
- Click Download, then choose PDF Document (.pdf)
- Attach PDF to email
Note: The option to email as an attachment (PDF) does not work. It does not attach a PDF as an attachment, but instead links the PDF from Google Drive

- Click the horizontal ellipsis in the top-right of the document
- Click Share & export
- Click Send a copy
- Choose Format PDF and then click OK
- Choose your email application: e.g., Gmail or Mail

- Click the vertical ellipsis in the top-right of the document
- Click Share & export
- Click Send a copy
- Choose Format PDF Document (.pdf) and then click OK
- Choose your email application: e.g., Gmail or Mail
