Download and install on a macOS or Windows computer / Autodesk Software

Problem

  • I need instructions on downloading and installing Autodesk software for students, faculty and staff use
  • How do I download and install Autodesk software on a personal macOS or Windows computer?

Resolution

For Students

  1. Go to the main Autodesk webpage
  2. On that webpage, select the See all products button and then select the software you need access to in the list
  3. Once you select the software, you will select the Student option and continue to verification
  4. Complete the verification process by entering in the information it asks you and hit Submit
    • For the school address, enter 501 East High Street, Oxford OH  45056
    • For the school itself, select Miami University Oxford
    • For the school webpage, enter https://miamioh.edu
  5. Once you complete the verification process, you will see a screen saying that you have successfully completed the verification and also receive an email from Autodesk
  6. The email will include a Get products link that you can click to go to the webpage to install your software
    • It may show as "Access", but if you click the Access button and then click Next, it will reload the page and offer an Install button instead
  7. Once you install the software, you will be able to log in and use the software as needed

 

For Faculty

  1. Go to the main Autodesk webpage
  2. On that webpage, select the See all products button and then select the software you need access to in the list
  3. Once you select the software, you will select the Educator option and continue to verification
  4. Complete the verification process by entering in the information it asks you and hit Submit
    • For the school address, enter 501 East High Street, Oxford OH  45056
    • For the school itself, select Miami University Oxford
    • For the school webpage, enter https://miamioh.edu
  5. Once you complete the verification process, you will see a screen saying that you have successfully completed the verification and also receive an email from Autodesk
  6. The email will include a Get products link that you can click to go to the webpage to install your software

  7. Once you install the software, you will be able to log in and use the software as needed

Notes

  • There isn't really any significant difference between the student and educator license, so if faculty are experiencing issues gaining access to software licensing via the educator option, feel free to try the student option
  • If you do not get an email after the access request process you may need to do the process again. Sometimes Autodesk will act like you were granted access, but then not actually grant access
