More information on Minitab can be found here.

Capabilities, Benefits, and Key Features

  • Key statistical tests include t tests, one and two proportions, normality test, chi-square and equivalence tests.

  • Use classical methods in Minitab Statistical Software, integrate with open-source languages R or Python, or boost your capabilities further with machine learning algorithms like Classical and Regression Trees (CART) or TreeNet® and Random Forests®

  • Visualizations can help communicate your findings and achievements through correlograms, binned scatterplots, bubble plots, boxplots, dotplots, histograms, heatmaps, parallel plots, time series plots and more.

Limitations / Technology Requirements

Minitab can only be downloaded on a windows computer or used as a Web App in a Chromium-based browser.

What can I expect?

  • Support TierSponsor Support: If students were to contact IT Help, they refer the user to an individual sponsor, typically an instructor of a given course. The sponsor would work directly with the vendor on any unresolved issues.

  • Acquisition Model: Direct Download: Software is downloaded to a local computer and installed to run from that specific device.

  • Licensing Model: User Named License: The Vendor hosts a license server that the application uses to check-in and validate that you still have permission to use the application. The license server typically has one or more administrators that review and ensure the licenses have been deployed according to the terms and conditions of use.

  • Authentication Model: Yes: Authentication is required after the application is acquired.

Who may use it?

Faculty and staff may install Minitab using Software Center on their Windows work computer (owned by Miami University). The software requires additional licensing.

How do I get started?

  1. Click Start, then begin typing "Software Center" to search for the Software Center application. Select Software Center from the search results (Note: If Software Center is missing from your work computer, request it using the button on the right.)
  2. Ensure that the Available Software tab is selected.
  3. Select a software title and then click the Install button.
  4. Watch the Status column to view the software's installation status. Larger software packages may take a while to install.

Is there a charge to me or my department?

Minitab is available to download from the Software Center for installation on a Windows computer owned and operated by the university
