Identify roles and training / OAS
Body
Problem
- I want information about the types of roles users can have within the Oracle Analytics Suite
- How do I obtain the training needed for each OAS role?
Resolution
User Roles
- Consumer: Consumers can access existing dashboards, and can schedule and/or run BI Reports. They are limited in what information they can see. They cannot create reports, dashboards, or visualizations. They may need additional permissions to access divisional resources. Anyone with a valid Miami Unique ID and password is a Consumer
- Author: Authors are permitted to create analyses using Answers and accessing the data in the Data Warehouse. The analyses should be reviewed by a Publisher for accuracy prior to being made available. To be granted Author access, one has to have completed the 8-hour training course on using the Answers tool within OAS (Day 1 and Day 2 are both required) as well as warehouse data training from all data owners
- Developer: Developers can create BI Publisher reports from data in the Data Warehouse, and in Data Visualizer using external sources alongside the Data Warehouse. As with the analyses, reports should be reviewed by a Publisher for accuracy prior to being made available. To be granted Developer access, one has to have completed the 8-hour training course for BI Publisher tool (BIP) (Day 1 and Day 2 are both required), the Data Visualizer training (Day 1 and Day 2 are both required) as well as warehouse data training from all data owners
- Publisher: Publishers are Data owners who are to review items created by developers and authors for accuracy. Publishers then move the items from In Review to the proper production folder
Notes
- University staff, both classified and unclassified, can take the training with supervisory permission. Attendance by staff in the Academic Affairs division must also be approved by Lindsay Carpenter
