Why can my students see unavailable files?

Cause
If individual files are published when the Files tab is active, students will have access to all files in assignments, including unavailable ones
Resolution
To rescind file permissions, you can hide all files from students or restrict access/unpublish select files or disable the Files option on the left navigation.
Hide all files from students
Open your Canvas course
Select
Settings
Select the
Navigation
tab
Select the gear next to
Files
Select
Disable
Scroll to the bottom and select
Save
Restrict access or only hide select files
Open your Canvas course
Select
Files
Select the circle next to the desired files
Select between
unpublish
or
Restrict Access
as desired
Select
Update
