Objective
To provide troubleshooting guidance for screen rendering issues in a Google service when:
Your Gmail and Drive are flashing or flickering on the screen
Environment

Resolution
Try the following troubleshooting options to restore screen rendering properties in Google apps:
Delete your cache and cookies
Disable Flash (without extension)
In your Chrome browser, click the stacked dots icon in the upper-right corner and select
Settings
from the drop-down
Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page and click the
Advanced
option
Under Privacy and Security, select
Content settings
Scroll to Flash and click the arrow on the right end of the row
Next to
Always allow to run
, click the slider button to grey to prevent Chrome from automatically running Flash in websites
Note: If you need to play a Flash video, activate the app in the site by using the right mouse button
Hint:
Follow this link to the Chrome Web Store
and search for a Flash Control extension that will help you block Flash files in any website you open
Use Chrome's incognito mode to identify the problem-extension
In your Chrome browser, click the stacked dots icon in the upper-right corner and select
New Incognito Window
from the drop-down
Enter
chrome://extensions
in the search bar
One at a time, clear the
Enabled
box next to the extension name
Each time you disable an extension, check to see if your Google app screen it is still flashing
If identified, delete the problem-extension by clicking the trashcan icon next to the name
Restore default browser settings
In your Chrome browser, click the stacked dots icon in the upper-right corner and select
Settings
from the drop-down
Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page and click the
Advanced
option
Scroll down to the Reset section and select
Reset
to restore Chrome's original default settings
Note: This will reset your start-up page, new tab page, search engine, and pinned tabs; and disable all extensions and clear temporary data. Your bookmarks, history, and saved passwords will not be cleared
In the Reset pop-up window, confirm by clicking the
Reset
box
Turn off hardware acceleration
In your Chrome browser, click the stacked dots icon in the upper-right corner and select
Settings
from the drop-down
Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page and click the
Advanced
option
Scroll down to the System section and c
Next to
Use hardware acceleration when available
, click the slider button to grey to deactivate acceleration
