Error + Resolution

Error Message
  Network Adapter could not establish connection
Affected User / Client Office / Action When a user tries to connect to an Oracle database through SQL developer
Cause
  1. The connection string is incorrect 
  2. The user does not have appropriate permissions in banner
  3. User is off campus and needs to connect to VPN
Applied Resolution / Workaround
  1. If you are off campus, connect to the MU VPN
  2. If error persists: follow all steps in Oracle / Access database in SQL Developer to ensure correct connection details
  3. If error persists: contact appropriate office as listed in Banner Security Access to request access
    • If you are a member of IT services, have your manager submit a ticket to the DBA's to request access
