Canvas / Work-around for Grade Change Submission Application

Objective

• To provide instruction on updating grade changes in Banner using a CSV file from Canvas when:
  • Grades from cross-listed courses with lab section are not pulling from the main course in a non-credit lab course

Environment

• 10185: Canvas

Resolution

1. Log into Canvas and go into the Gradebook
2. Select the down arrow to the right of Actions in the GradeBook
3. Export the gradebook
   • The file will be a CSV — do not change the file extension or save it in any other format than a CSV
4. Open the downloaded file and make the following changes    
   1. Delete the non-student rows immediately under the headings: blank rows between rows with content must be removed
   2. Delete the row with an empty UniqueId (i.e., test student)
   3. Save the file
5. Upload the revised grade file in the Grade Submission app
   1. Go directly to the Grade Submission application: https://www.apps.miamioh.edu/grade-submission
   2. Select the section to which you want to upload grades
   3. Ensure that the columns from the CSV file are correctly mapped to the columns in the table in the application by selecting the columns
   4. Follow the directions to review, enter the grades, and save
