Purpose and Scope
To formalize a departmental policy regarding the driving of mowers on campus.
Policy and Procedures:
- Mowers may only be driven on Miami University owned roads, parking lots, sidewalks and bike paths
- Mowers should only be driven on Miami University owned roads when no other option exists
- Mowers are not permitted to drive on Miami University owned roads in the dark
- Mowers are not permitted to drive on public roads except to cross them
- Mowers may cross public roads at crosswalks only
- Maximum speeds are 5 miles per hour in congested areas and 10 miles per hour in non-congested areas
- Operators shall at all times yield to pedestrians
- Mowers needing transport off campus must use an appropriate truck and trailer and are strictly forbidden from being driven on public roads
