Objective

• To provide guidance in accessing your student's financial (billing) and academic records
• To provide information about your student's use of two-factor authentication through Duo

Rationale

• All current University students are required to enroll in Duo, the system-wide, two-factor authentication security application used at Miami University
• Parents of current Miami University students are not required to enroll in Duo and can continue to access their Parent/Family account 

Guidelines

• The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of your student's financial and academic records. FERPA and other federal laws prevent Miami from releasing student information to parents or any other individuals unless authorized by the student
  • Visit Miami University's General Counsel site to learn more about FERPA
     
• Do not use your student's Miami credentials (UniqueID and MUnet password) to log in to the University system
   
• You must have a Parent/Family account and your student's permission to access any student record
  • Your student can create your Parent/Family account and share access to any or all records by following these KB instructions
  • Simply log in to the Student Information for Families Portal with the email address (which is your UniqueID) your student used to create your account and the password you created when you received your confirmation email
