Body
Objective

User
Canvas Instructor
Environment
10185: Canvas
Cause
Canvas course sites automatically close at the end of each term. You must extend the end-date of the course and the section to allow a student to take an exam
Resolution
Before you can allow a student to complete work on a closed course, you must extend the end-date of the course and the section. If the course has ended you need to submit a ticket to request the course be reopened by a Canvas Admin. If the course is open follow the steps in these Canvas Guide articles:
This Canvas Instructor Guide article tells you how to change the start and end dates for a course
And this Canvas Instructor Guide article tells you how to edit a section to adjust section end dates to match the course dates
Your student can now complete their work, and
you can adjust grades
When finished,
be sure to set the course end-date back to the end of term
