LISTSERV / Assistance needed to change the moderator, owner, or editor of a list

Objective

    To provide instruction for changing the moderator, owner, or editor of an auto-populated LISTSERV list that you manage
  • To obtain assistance with changing the moderator, owner, or editor of an auto-populated LISTSERV list that you do not manage

Scope

  • If you are the manager of the list, you can change the owner, editor, and moderator of your managed list by editing the LISTSERV header within the LISTSERV web interface
    • Execution of this procedure is recommended only for users who are comfortable with the format of the LISTSERV header, including keywords and their parameters
  • If you are not the manager of the list or you do not feel confident in making the changes on your own, simply call and submit a request for assistance

Resolution

I manage the LISTSERV list

  • Execution of this procedure is recommended only for users who are comfortable with the format of the LISTSERV header, including keywords and their parameters
  1. To access your managed list, go to Miami's LISTSERV web site
  2. If prompted, log in to the list using the email address with which you are subscribed and your LISTSERV password
  3. In the List Management Dashboard, click the Self Only link in the Search Options section to see only the lists that you own
    • A table containing the lists you own will appear in the Dashboard for <UniqueID>@MiamiOH.edu section of your web interface
  4. In the left column of the table, click the Configure link beneath the list name
  5. In the List Configuration <listname> page, click the Edit Manually link on the right side of the page
  6. When the List Header appears on the left side of your page, click inside the multi-line box to begin editing the header in its raw state
  7. Edit the content within the box as you would within a regular text editor
    • To delete an owner, editor, or moderator, highlight the given line and tap the delete key on your keyboard
    • To replace an owner, editor, or moderator, type over their UniqueID and their first and last name in parentheses
    • To add an owner, editor,or moderator, enter one of the following commands:
      • Editor= UniqueID@MiamOH.edu (FIRST NAME LAST NAME)
      • Moderator= UniqueID@MiamOH.edu (FIRST NAME LAST NAME)
      • Owner= UniqueID@MiamOH.edu (FIRST NAME LAST NAME)
  8. Click Save
  9. To start over, click Revert to reload your header information

  2. Provide the following information:
    • Name of the LISTSERV
    • Role(s) to change
    • UniqueID and full name of the person affected
