Canvas / TA unable to take attendance

Issue

  • I am a TA, and I cannot take attendance in Canvas
  • I only see my own attendance records in Canvas

Resolution

  1. Log in to the course site
  2. On the left sidebar, select Courses
  3. Choose the course in which you are experiencing the issue
  4. Navigate to the People tab
  5. Check your enrollment under the People tab
    • Do you have a Student role, as well as a TA role?
      • If so, remove the Student role
  6. Select the gear to the right of your name
    • If you cannot edit roles, contact your instructor to make the change
  7. Select Edit Role
  8. Change your role to Instructor
  9. Change your role back to the desired role, TA or Student

 

Add a TA (instructor)

  1. In the People tab, select +People
  2. Enter a full non-Miami email address in the format First Name Last Name <email@example.com>
  3. Choose TA as Role
  4. Select Next
  5. Verify name and email
  6. Select Add Users
  7. Select Done
