LISTSERV / Add an owner to a list

Objective

  • To provide instruction on adding an owner to a LISTSERV list

Environment

  • 10283: LISTSERV

Resolution

  1. Go to Miami's LISTSERV web site
  2. Click Manage a List link in the navigation bar on left side of the screen
  3. Log in using the email address with which you are subscribed to the list and your LISTSERV password
    • The LISTSERV password is NOT your MUnet password
  4. Select the list you want to change
  5. In the left column of your table, select Configure beneath the appropriate list name
  6. Select Edit Manually on the right side of your web page
  7. Once the list header appears on the left side of your page, click your mouse inside the multi-line box to begin editing the header in its 'raw' state 
    • Within the box you can scroll up and down, copy and paste text, add and delete lines, like you would using a regular text editor
  8. To add an owner, editor, or moderator, enter one of the following commands:
    • Editor= UniqueID@miamioh.edu (FIRST NAME LAST NAME)
    • Moderator= UniqueID@miamioh.edu (FIRST NAME LAST NAME)
    • Owner= UniqueID@miamioh.edu (FIRST NAME LAST NAME)
      • Replace (FIRST NAME LAST NAME) with the first and last name of the person assigned; no comma
  9. Save
