Objective
- To provide instruction and access to download IBM SPSS 29 for students, faculty, and staff use on their personally owned computer
Scope
- Through a site-licensed contract, students, faculty, and staff may use SPSS on their personally owned computers while on the campus network or connected to MUVPN from an off-campus location
- SPSS can be downloaded on both Mac and Windows computers

Overview

Resolution
Note: Be sure that you are connected to MiamiOH-SECURE or — if you are off-campus — to MUVPN with Cisco AnyConnect before starting the installation and when using the application.
Windows Users
- Click on Download and Install to get started
- When prompted, enter your Miami credentials to begin the download
- The installer will be saved in your Downloads folder
- Do not power off, put to sleep, or disconnect from the network until the download is complete
- Click the file that was downloaded, displayed at the bottom of your browser window, to run the installer
- Files will first be extracted, and then the installer will open several command windows. The command windows will close when the install is complete
- Click Start, then type IBM SPSS to launch the application
Mac Users
Note: MacOS users on Sonoma (14.0 or higher) must follow the Sonoma Fix procedure (below) after the installation is complete.
- Click on Download and Install to get started
- If prompted, enter your Miami credentials to begin the download
- The installer will be saved to your Downloads folder
- Do not power off, put to sleep, or disconnect from the network until the download is complete
- Navigate to the location your web browser downloaded the pkg file
- Press and hold the control key and click the package file (.pkg)
- Select Open to start the installation
- Click Continue to begin
- Click Continue
- Click Agree to agree to the license
- Click Continue when selecting a destination
- Click Install
- Click Close to complete the install
- Launch SPSS Statistics from the Applications folder
- The application will now open to a License not valid window — click Launch License Wizard
- Click Next on the License Status window
- Select the radio button for Concurrent user license (My organization purchased the product and my administrator gave me a computer name or IP address)
- Click Next
- In the blank below License manager server name or IP address, enter the following hostname: spsslic.miamioh.edu
- Click Next
- On the Licensing Completed window, click Finish
- If prompted to restart SPSS, click Restart
- MacOS users on Sonoma (14.0 or higher) must follow the Sonoma Fix procedure after the installation is complete
- Sonoma Fix:
- Close any existing sessions of SPSS
- Click here to download the SPSS Sonoma Fix
- Enter your Miami credentials, if prompted, to begin the download
- The installer will be saved to your Downloads folder
- Navigate to the location your web browser downloaded the pkg file
- Double click the 29.0-IM-S29STATC-Mac-MD002.pkg
- Click Continue to begin
- Click Continue
- Click Continue
- Click Agree to agree to the license
- Click Install
- Click Close to complete the installation
