Canvas / Upload SCORM files to Canvas LMS

Objective

  • To provide instruction on creating and issuing badges in Canvas

User

  • Canvas Instructor

Environment

  • 10185: Canvas

Guidelines

Make sure you know the location of the SCORM files on your device.

  1. To upload a SCORM file in Canvas, navigate to the Settings options in the course navigation
  2. Locate the SCORM items and drag it to the course navigation
  3. Make sure to click Save at the bottom of the page
  4. SCORM will be an option in navigation. Select it to begin the upload process
  5. Select Upload in the right-hand corner and locate the zipped SCORM file(s) that were provided. If you are uploading more than one SCORM/topic, this must be done one at a time
  6. Once the file is uploaded, you will need to select how you want the file displayed in your course. Use the Choose import type drop-down option and select Import as page. The SCORM file will be a page in your course. You can add additional text and items to the page using the Edit feature. Make sure to Publish. Now the page can be added to course modules

Note: after you have added all of the SCORM files to your Canvas course, it is a good idea to return to the course settings and drag the SCORM item back down so that it doesn’t appear in the course navigation for the end user
