Procedure: Defect Tracking / Create a new JIRA project for a product

Objective

  • To provide instruction on creating a new JIRA project for a product

Scope 

  • JIRA projects should be related to a product rather than to individual TeamDynamix projects for the purpose of defect tracking

Procedure

  1. Create the new JIRA project

    1. Follow this link to open JIRA
    2. Select Projects
    3. Select Create Project
    4. In the left hand column, select Software development
    5. Click Scrum
    6. In the lower right, click the Use template button
    7. Under Choose a project type, click the Select a company-managed project button
    8. In the Name field, use the name of the associated asset/CI
      • If the associated asset/CI does not currently exist, start a new asset/CI record in TDX using the intended name; forward the new record to the development team for completion
    9. Choose a meaningful key similar to the selected name
    10. Click the Create project button
    11. In the left hand column, click Project settings
    12. In the left hand column, select Details
    13. Set the project category to Product
    14. Click the Save Details button
  2. Add developer permissions to the project

    1. In the left hand column, click Project settings
    2. Select People
    3. Click the Add people button
    4. Enter EIS Developers
    5. Select Developers from the Role drop-down menu
    6. Click the Add button
  3. Add the JIRA project link to the TDX asset record and product backlog

    1. Open TeamDynamix
    2. Select the Assets/CIs tab
    3. Enter the asset name in the search bar
    4. Select the magnifying glass icon to search
    5. Select the appropriate result, if a window does not open 
    6. Select Edit
    7. Add the JIRA project link to product backlog
