  2. The work order will be assigned to the Electrical Engineer Project Manager in Planning, Architecture and Engineering (PAE)
    • The Project Manager will contact the requestor to obtain any additional information required to identify a possible location for the camera and develop a cost estimate
    • The Project Manager will provide a cost estimate to the requestor for approval

Approvals

  1. If the requestor approves the cost estimate, the Director of PAE will submit the request to the Vice President for approval
    • If the Vice President denies the request, the Director of PAE will notify the requestor that the request was denied
    • If the Vice President approves the request, the Director of PAE will
      • Notify the requestor the request has been approved
      • Take the request to the Space Utilization Group (for indoor cameras) or the Campus Planning Committee (for outdoor cameras)

Space Utilization Group (for indoor cameras) and the Campus Planning Committee (for outdoor cameras)

  1. The committee will review the camera request per the following guidelines and provide feedback on the proposed location of the camera(s):
    • Cameras should be placed as much as possible to avoid being prominent in favored view corridors (e.g. MacCracken lawn, Upham arch, along axis, etc.) while still capturing the desired area.
    • Cameras placed inside should avoid being pointed directly at computer screens to protect personal information.
    • Cameras should be placed where vegetation, temporary walls, door swings, or other objects will not block the view
    • Camera placement should consider light sources, and avoid placement pointed directly toward the source.
    • Cameras should not be placed in or focused toward private spaces (e.g. restrooms, private offices, private sleeping rooms, apartments, or locker/dressing rooms).
    • Cameras should not be placed focused on non-campus property.
    • Requests for temporary cameras should identify the dates and times the camera(s) will be actively recording.

Revised Cost Estimate

  1. Following any refinement of the camera location by the committee, should this impact the initial cost estimate, the Project Manager will contact the requestor with the revised estimate for their approval
    • Once this approval is granted, the work order will be routed for work execution
