Body
Problem
- How do I create a Google Docs collaboration in Canvas?
- How do I create a Google Drive collaboration in Canvas?
- How do I create a Google Assignments collaboration in Canvas?
Resolution
- Collaborations in Canvas allow multiple users to work on the same document or file simultaneously. To begin using collaborations in Canvas, click the Collaborations tab in your course navigation or Groups navigation.
- You must add each user or group as a "collaborator" when creating a collaboration in order for them to have access (up to 50 users per collaboration).
- Each collaborator will need a Google account and must connect their Google Drive as a registered service in Canvas. If you experience any issues with your registered Google Drive, review the KB article for instructions on troubleshooting Google Drive issues in Canvas.
- Refer to the Canvas Student Guide for more information on creating different collaborations in Canvas:
- Note: When using collaborations, Canvas configures the sharing permissions of the selected Google Drive file so the added collaborators can access and edit it. If working with Google Drive files outside the Canvas collaboration tool, you will need to manually adjust the file's sharing permissions
