Modify or open a closed course / Canvas

Problem

• How do I share content from a previous Canvas course with another instructor?
• How do I reopen a closed course so a student can submit coursework in Canvas?
• How do I enter a student's grades in Canvas after the end of the term?
• How does a department chair or assessment coordinator get access to a previous course in Canvas?

Resolution

• If the goal is to share content from a previous course with another instructor, then refer to the KB article to request a new course site to adhere to FERPA guidelines
• If a student needs access to complete coursework, follow the steps in the KB article to resolve a student incomplete grade 
• If you need to add or modify grades in a course, submit a Canvas Solutions Request
  • Include the term, course name, course section, and the date access can end
• If a department chair or assessment coordinator needs to access a previous course as part of their academic responsibilities, submit a Canvas Solutions Request:
  • Include the user's name, email, and reason for access
  • Once added, the user will find the course on their Canvas All Courses page
