Connection issues on a University computer and phone / Wired Network

Problem
- I need to troubleshoot connection issues for a University-owned computer connected to the wired network
- I need to troubleshoot connection issues for a University-owned computer connected to the wired network through a desk phone
- I need to troubleshoot connection issues for an established wired connection that seems to be inactive
Resolution
- Restart your computer
- If you are using a Cisco phone with the computer, make sure the phone is securely plugged into the D-1 data wall jack
- Make sure the Ethernet cable is securely plugged into the switch port on the back of the phone
- If you are not using a Cisco phone with the computer, make sure the Ethernet cable is securely plugged into the D-1 jack. Follow the network cable (usually blue) from the back of the computer to the network jack on the wall to make sure it is connected
- Make sure the Ethernet cable is securely plugged into the back of the computer
- Restart the computer
- On a macOS computer, select the Apple menu and select Restart
- On a Windows computer, select the Windows button, click the arrow next to Shut Down, and select Restart
