Guidelines
Email aliases based on name must include the full last-name and at least one character of the first-name or nickname
Acceptable examples:
JohnSmith@MiamiOH.edu
JRSmith@miamiOH.edu
John.Smith@MiamiOH.edu
J.Smith@MiamiOH.edu
The email alias must comply with
Miami University's Responsible Use of Computing Resources policy
and not be reflective of a copyrighted or commercial entity or trademark
An email alias cannot be comprised of University standard abbreviations or names that are normally reserved for University departmental or divisional use
Invalid examples:
john.helpdesk@MiamiOH.edu
john.helpdeskmanager@MiamiOH.edu
SupportDeskManager@MiamiOH.edu
john@MiamiOH.edu
Resolution
Log in to the Miami Directory
In the left sidebar, select
Login
Select
My Entry
Scroll to
Contact and Personal Information
Select
Edit Contact and Personal Information
Scroll down to the
Email Aliases
Create up to six email aliases by typing them in the appropriate fields
Select the radio button the corresponds to the e-mail address you want to be displayed in Miami Directory
Click
Submit
Notes
If you would like to send mail as your alias, you will need to set up your Google email box.
Follow this article from Google to complete
Students that would like an alias that reflects a preferred first-name change must use this
form to request an alias in the format of your UniqueID with the new initial
