Access server shares in Windows, macOS / GEONAS

Problem
- Hoe do I access GEONAS server shares in Windows and macOS?
Resolution
Windows PC joined to AD
- Right-click Windows Start Menu button and choose File Explorer
- Right-click This PC in left-hand pane and choose Map network drive...
- Map Network Drive dialog window, depending on share:
- Drive: W:
- Folder: \\geonas01.it.muohio.edu\CLASS
OR
- Drive: Y:
- Folder: \\geonas01.it.muohio.edu\GEO
- Check Reconnect at sign-in
- Click Finish
Windows PC NOT joined to AD
- Follow steps above 1-4
- Check Connect using different credentials
- Click Finish
- Enter username IT\UniqueID
- Enter password: MU password
- Check Remember credentials
- Click OK
macOS
- From macOS Finder, choose Go->Connect to Server... or keyboard shortcut Command + K.
- In the Connect to Server dialog window, enter smb://GEONAS01.it.muohio.edu
- Click Connect
- Enter username IT\UniqueID
- Enter password: <MU password>
- Optional: Check Remember this password in my keychain
- Select volume to mount
- Optional: Press Command and select multiple volumes
- Click OK
- Depending on finder options selected, share will mount and show on desktop and or under finder window
Notes
- Users must be connected to MUVPN when off campus to access server shares
- Computers in SHD132/134 use GPO OU=CAS, OU=GEO, OU=GISLAB132, GISLAB134 for automatic mapping of GEONAS01 CLASS, GEO shares.
- Geography Department network attached storage
