Procedure: Defect Tracking / Update an existing JIRA project

  • To provide instruction on updating or converting existing JIRA projects to products

Scope

  • JIRA projects should be related to a product rather than to individual Teamdynamix projects for the purpose of defect tracking

  • 10374: TeamDynamix (TDX)

Procedure

  1. ​​​Locate your project

    1. Open JIRA
    2. Select Projects
    3. Select View All Projects
    4. Search for the name of the project
    5. Click the name of the desired project
  2. ​​​Convert the project

    1. Select the gear icon for Project Settings
    2. Select Details
    3. Make sure the name matches the name given for the application in the asset record
    4. Make sure the key in some way reflects the product name
    5. Ensure the project type is Software
    6. Make sure the project category is Product
    7. Select Save Details
    8. Notify the team of the project key change once the index has completed
  3. ​​​Add developer permissions to the project (if they are not already set)

    1. Select the gear icon for Project Settings
    2. Select People
    3. Select Add People
    4. Enter EIS Developers 
    5. Select Developers from the Role drop-down menu
    6. Select Add
  4. ​​​Add the JIRA project link to the TDX asset record and project backlog

    1. Open TeamDynamix
    2. Select the Assets/CIs tab
    3. Enter the asset name in the search bar
    4. Select the magnifying glass icon to search
    5. Select the appropriate result, if a window does not open 
    6. Select Edit
    7. Add the JIRA project link to product backlog

    8. Select Save
